I know it is done. I know we will graduate. But somehow, I feel the work was inadequate and that my efforts were in vain.

I know I dried my eyes out. I know I toiled for days. Or should I say nights. I know I made a dorm out of Faura. But somehow, I feel 9 month’s time wasn’t spent well and I only felt 3 months of it.

I know you toiled as well. I’ve seen it. I just wished we coordinated more.

I know you had failings. I too had failings. I know we were aware of it. But I wished we just didn’t leave it be but talked and worked through it.

What’s done is done. It can never be undone. But the question is, what do we do now? We still have time you know. Or is it my call?

Not Yet Sinking In

What’s not?

Graduation. That’s what’s not yet sinking in. The whole “we’re no longer students”, “we’ll be assimilated to the workforce (hopefully)”, “we’ll be parting ways”, “we wont see each other that much anymore”, and “we’ll miss the school, the people, and the whole student life in general”.

I dont know why though. I dont know why it isnt sinking in. Maybe because I have some unfinished business? Maybe because I look forward to some plans? Maybe because I’m caught up in the plans and the things I want to do after graduation that I couldn’t think about the moment? Maybe because I think that if we will it to be, we can still meet up with the people around us (save for the people in another continent).

I don’t know. Honestly. I don’t know. This honestly.

I don’t even know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Faura Dorm

I have recently been sleeping at F308. Not that it was mandated. But it’s just that I feel that I can get more things done here. Less temptations. And the silence is conducive to productivity. I dont have the bed calling me to enter Morpheus’ realm. And I most certainly dont have to hear my roommate’s songs playing in the background.

Hope everything gets done in the next 2 weeks..

Because Valentines…

is just around the corner…

I have a not so valid excuse to repost these…

“…So what’s wrong if there happens to be one guy in the world who enjoys trying to understand you?”

“Kind of like a hobby?” she said, amused

“Sure, I guess you could call it a hobby. Most normal people would call it friendship or love or something, but if you want to call it a hobby, that’s O.K. too.”

Haruki Murakami- Norwegian Wood

Got it from Cla. Who just read it somewhere.

Of course I can always go back to Smashing Pumpkins and say

I’m telling you how much I need and bleed for your every move and waking sound.

Springing Back

No, this isn’t about blogging and giving indicators that some mere mortal is still alive somewhere.

This is actually about the same mere mortal who underwent some not so terrifying ordeal and walked back a victor of some sort. I’m talking about Smart Sweep. It has been a week already and though we won second, I havent blogged about it. The whole Cebu event. And I also havent blogged about the days before the competition when I, together with the other Ateneo Smart Sweep-ers, would be sleeping at school for more than 5 nights in a row. Havent blogged about how in one night, we watched Jimson loose it and dance in front of the camera with Christmas lights lit around his body. I provided an electric fan too to serve as his pole.

Anyway, this post is just entitled Springing Back because I havent sprung back after Sweep. I couldn’t feel the drive yet. I havent even been reacquainted with the silence of Halls of Faura come evening time.

The problem is, I have about a couple of weeks and thesis defense is up. That’s good if only I have thesis to bother myself with. There are other things. One of which is the JSP class presentation which I think, nobody in my group would step-up. That’s a problem. And the other thing is Maam Engeline Obien’s video presentation and Tcom Bee. By the way, Tcom Bee is our midterms. Who the hell calls it a midterm when you have 2 more weeks after for the finals? It isnt even MID. More than MID. And then you still have the video. Probably another artsy-fartsy rehearsed video. With script. I normally dont have anything against video presentations. But this one gets in the way of other things.

Of course there are also those labreps and project with Sir Reggie but my laziness caused that work pile-up. What I dont like though is that I am being asked to participate again in the upcoming SquEEEze contest. The time is just not right. Guess I just have to pass up on that.

Then I heard some of the teachers are planning to send some of the Sweep entries to another contest. More work.

Broadcast: Maam Eng, if you’re googling yourself and read this, please consider in your calculations and projections the possible, impending, and inevitable trouble and sheer irritation you will cause on the entire batch. That’s about 42 people. It isn’t just about the workload. It is also about interfering with what I deem important. Thesis.  The supposed culmination of what we learn as ECE students. By the way, these are just my views. Of course there are others who share it but since they arent here as of this writing, I wont pull them in. Besides, they might not want to freely divulge what they’re thinking.

If you want to give that disappointed look, like the one you gave as you stood near the elevator on the second day of the Sweep contest, do as you wish. I will ignore it.

Categories OC-ness

Now that I’ve seen it, I think I should re-think of a way to organize my posts. The categories sections is a little cluttered. Not really a good way of categorizing stuff. And some of my categories dont start with capital letters. Now, maybe I can find a way to edit these things…

PacDat Group

No this isn’t that from Rex Navarette. Although I think they got it from there.

This is actually the group composed of Ronell Sicat, Erwin Ray Hapal, Michael Siapno, and Kelvin Chryzth Velasquez who are happily locked inside the confines of the Smart Sweep Lab at CTC 316, possibly carefully sniping away whatever could be sniped and making various cellphone videos soon uploaded through their multiply sites. And maybe Nel having an epiphany of becoming a stand-up comedian of sorts.
This post is just actually to commend the distance these guys. made. I went by their room recently, actually for the Smart Sweep tutorial and I think, by far, they were able to add skills to their repertoire. What I mean is that while doing their thesis, they were able to learn new things such as LAMP servers, Cake, and Kannel. Something the ECE department cant offer as part of its curriculum.

To me that is significant because aside from the fact that they could add more to the patient monitoring database, they would have advanced to a certain level. I mean, with more skills, you can have more possible things to do.

So I should say “Good Job Guys”. =)
